The Domestic abuse charity, The Elm Foundation, is to receive much-needed funds through community quiz night on Sat 14 November at 7pm.
The Satellite Rotary Club of Chesterfield is holding a community charity quiz night on Saturday 14 November at 7pm. Legendary comedian Bernie Clifton will be the compere for this family-friendly, fun-packed evening, which includes a raffle and auction.
The event is in aid of three local charities, one of which is The Elm Foundation.
Through the wonders of technology, people can stay safe from the virus and still take part, from the comfort of their own home. It costs £15 to enter a team into the quiz; this includes £5 worth of raffle tickets. Tickets can be purchased at: bit.ly/srq2020
CEO of The Elm Foundation, Jennifer Calverley, is thankful of the support. She says,
“Domestic abuse can affect people of any gender, of all ages and backgrounds, in every locality. Due to the current economic climate and limitations surrounding fundraising events, we’re incredibly grateful to organisations such as the Chesterfield Satellite Rotary Club for raising money on our behalf.”
The lockdown period saw 25% more women and men caught in domestic abuse situations. Prevented from seeing family and friends, and with more perpetrators at home due to social distancing regulations, people were holed up with their abusers for months.
The Elm Foundation, which serves the Chesterfield, Bolsover, Amber Valley and North Derbyshire areas, represents a safe, welcoming, supportive place for any woman, man or child affected by domestic abuse. The organisation provides options for anyone in such a situation, supporting them to live a life free from fear.
