Our thanks go to the whole team of staff, volunteers and partners of Willmott Dixon as they have transformed our refuge accommodation space. They have created a space where women and children can call home, a place that offers them a fresh start.

A huge team from Willmott Dixon, led by graduate trainees Emma and Julia (pictured), have given their time renovating the house and the garden. They have secured partners who have also donated beautiful items, such as the stunning Elm Tree on the wall that offers residents the chance to share messages with others. The artificial grass is amazing, and the garden is now a bright, colourful and safe place for the children to play in. This team have created tranquil corners for women to relax in, a beautiful lounge and dining room area with a revolving bookcase and a new bright children’s playroom.
This team worked hard to navigate all the permissions and safety regulations that were needed to do this work. Over 2 weeks they went above and beyond, giving us their skills, energy and understanding throughout, being sensitive to the needs of the women and children who called this their home.

To celebrate the transformation, they put on a BBQ for everyone and shared retail vouchers with all the women living there to say thank you for their understanding.
They really listened and cared about the views of everyone who lived there and created something that was bespoke around the things that mattered to them, such as outdoor lighting giving them a place to relax outdoors for longer, engaging items for children to play with and much more.
Everyone involved has shown the women and families who will live in this house that they matter and their community cares and we think you are all wonderful – THANK YOU!
