All children really want at Christmas is to be safe and happy in their home, with their friends, their pet and in their own bed. Until that day when they can have all these things again, show them that you care.
While many families gather together, others are rebuilding their lives in refuge accommodation, often with nothing but the clothes they arrived in and a few personal items.
Jo, our Children and Young People’s Worker has been talking to Mum’s and older children in refuge and these are a few things that show you care about them. They have written their letters for Santa or shared with us how they want to celebrate the season https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1DKXabXbfz/

‘My Christmas is different to others’
‘I hope Santa will find us’
‘We will soon have our new home, I am happy though as I no longer live in fear, being with my Mum and Brother is all I need this year’
‘Dear Santa, I want blue razzberry lollies’

- Girls toys, dolls, barbies, push chairs or similar
- Gifts for teenagers including toiletries
- Consider gifts that children can use alone i.e. books
- Vouchers for food retailers (a practical gift that offers people choice)
- Arts and craft materials, including pens, pencil cases (for school)
- Dressing gown, pyjamas for Christmas Eve dress up, fluffy socks, slippers.
- Satchels, back packs, or any school bags.
