We welcome the publication of Freedom from violence and abuse: a cross-government strategy – GOV.UK, which represents the government’s commitment to halving Violence Against Women and Girls within ten years. The emphasis on prevention and early intervention, managing perpetrators, and specialised support for victims’ and survivors’ aligns with our values and the holistic support we currently provide at The Elm Foundation.
We particularly welcome the investment in safe accommodation and specialist support, which will be vital for survivors to rebuild their lives.
We are taking the time to review the full policy in detail, and we will ensure our service is ready to engage closely with policymakers, partners, communities, victims and survivors to help bring these commitments into action.
